Great read as always. I've been thinking about simplifying my general process for illustration. The only 'problem' is that the result will be necessarily different. Not a bad thing... I suppose that would imply a transition between 'what my work used to look like' and 'what it is now'. Not as easy for current clients? But I guess that is still fear, as you said. What if everything is suddenly more comfortable and effective, AND the result is actually preferred? :-)
@Raúl Gil thanks for the reply. I am so glad it resonated. And that’s such a great callout. I was in the same boat and what prompted me to write this issue of Gutter Thoughts. I knew that if I simplified my process it would change the style of my comic. So I decided to test the new process on a small project put it out and see the feedback. That would be my recommendation. No need to go full in on the new process if you’re not ready. You got my mind spinning even more on this topic and will share more. Know that I would love to see your new process and style.
